Penny Collecting...

As some of you may know, I enjoy collecting pennies.

One of the things that many people do not know about pennies is that as of 1982, pennies are no longer made of copper.  They are zinc with copper-overlay.  This means that the only copper pennies that one will find are those which were minted in 1981 or before.  Copper has been going up in value lately, and with it, the monetary value of copper pennies.  As of 2010, Copper pennies were worth almost three cents each -more than twice the actual face value of regular copper penny currency.  The newer pennies are not worth nearly this much -because they are made of zinc.  Try searching this info out on the net, and you will find that what I am saying is true.  So, folks, if you want a poor man's INFLATION HEDGE, try collecting COPPER PENNIES.  They are still in circulation, and can be had at local banks as well as many other venues.  One just needs to take the time to search for them.  Happy Collecting!
